Nevada: Leading the Charge in Battery Technology

Nevada is emerging as a national leader in battery technology, playing a pivotal role in advancing the country’s energy security, national security, and economic development. At the heart of this leadership is the state’s development of the lithium loop—a sustainable, closed-loop supply chain that spans the entire battery lifecycle, from mineral exploration and extraction to processing, manufacturing, and recycling.

As the United States intensifies its focus on meeting energy storage needs, Nevada stands out as a model for innovation and collaboration.

Federal Support: A Key Ingredient in Nevada’s Success

While local support has been essential, the Nevada Battery Coalition (NBC) has also benefited greatly from a highly engaged and supportive federal delegation. Our partners in Congress have championed Nevada’s strategic importance in the national battery landscape by:

·      Elevating Nevada’s profile on the national stage

·      Supporting critical grant and loan applications

·      Advocating for federal policies that advance the clean energy sector

The path to building a robust battery supply chain in Nevada has not been easy. It has taken vision, risk-taking, and ingenuity from industry leaders—and the unwavering support of our federal partners has been instrumental to our progress.

Senator Jacky Rosen’s Visit: A Day of Collaboration

Recently, the NBC had the honor of meeting with U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen’s office for a day of engagement, discussion, and shared vision. Held at the Dragonfly Energy manufacturing facility, the event brought together over 40 members of Senator Rosen’s team and NBC representatives from across the state.

The visit featured:

·      A guided tour of Dragonfly Energy’s facility

·      Welcoming remarks by CEO Dr. Denis Phares

·      A panel discussion with NBC members representing all stages of the battery supply chain

The panel explored:

·      The role of critical mineral development in national security

·      Nevada’s strategic advantage in the battery sector

·      Workforce development challenges and solutions

·      Future opportunities for battery storage in the U.S.

Looking Ahead

As global demand for energy storage solutions continues to grow, the U.S. government has recognized battery technology as a national priority. Nevada is uniquely positioned to lead this effort—and supporting that leadership is central to the NBC’s mission.

We are deeply grateful to Senator Rosen and her team for their time, support, and ongoing commitment to Nevada’s clean energy future.
